PNF STRETCHING (PROPRIOCEPTIVE NEUROMUSCULAR FACILITATION STRETCHING)
PNF is a set of stretching techniques commonly used in clinical environments to enhance both active and passive range of motion in order to improve motor performance and aid rehabilitation. PNF is considered an optimal stretching method when the aim is to increase range of motion, especially as regards short-term changes. Generally an active PNF stretch involves a shortening contraction of the opposing muscle to place the target muscle on stretch. This is followed by an isometric contraction of the target muscle. PNF can be used to supplement daily stretching and to make quick gains in range of motion – for example, to help athletes improve performance. In addition to being safe and time efficient, the rapidly achievable gains in range of motion may also help promote compliance with the exercise and rehabilitation program.

PREGNANCY MASSAGE
Find relief and relaxation during your pregnancy.  Massage during pregnancy is a gentle and nurturing way to alleviate the discomfort associated with this joyful, yet physically challenging time in a woman’s life.  Receiving massage during pregnancy promotes health and wellbeing for you and your baby.

HOT STONE MASSAGE
Hot stone massage is an ancient technique used by Native Americans and Europeans as early as 1500 B.C.  Intended to be extremely relaxing, a heated stone massage involves the placement of sanitized, warmed, smooth rocks (usually basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat) upon different parts of the body. Typically, the treatment is done in conjunction with traditional massage techniques, such as Swedish massage, and the stones may be used with applied pressure by the massage therapist during the treatment. Often, stones also are placed–and left for a period of time–on certain body parts such as the spine, hands or belly, and replaced once they cool. Cool stones may also be used to address muscle injury.

DEEP TISSUE
It’s used to break up scar tissue and physically break down muscle “knots” or adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) that can disrupt circulation and cause pain, limited range of motion, and inflammation.
At the beginning of the massage, lighter pressure is generally applied to warm up and prep the muscles. Specific techniques are then applied. The most common techniques include:
Stripping
Deep, gliding pressure along the length of the muscle fibers using the elbow, forearm, knuckles, and thumbs.
Friction
Pressure applied across the grain of a muscle to release adhesions and realign tissue fibers.

The Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem, such as chronic muscle pain, injury rehabilitation, and the following conditions:

Low back pain
Limited mobility
Recovery from injuries (e.g. whiplash, falls)
Repetitive strain injury, such as carpal tunnel syndrome

SWEDISH
Swedish massage is the most common and best-known type of massage in the West. If it’s your first time at the spa or you don’t get massage often, Swedish massage is the best place to start. Swedish massage and other types of  therapeutic massage are performed by trained, licensed  massage therapists.
Swedish massage is the foundation for other types of Western massage, including sports massage, deep tissue massage and aromatherapy massage.

MEDICAL MASSAGE
Medical massage is the application of a specific treatment targeted to the problem(s) a patient presents with a diagnosis (via a prescription from a doctor). The treatment is administered after a thorough assessment/evaluation by the medical massage therapist with outcomes being the basis for treatment.

CUPPING
The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system. Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite.

AGE REQUIREMENT
We are not able to accept appointments for children under the age of 16 years, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Children under the age of 18 require a parent or adult guardian signed waiver and/or accompaniment by a parent or adult guardian for services.
